Continue the following story: Every Saturday afternoon the McNeill brothers and their friends met in Citizens Park near the baseball playground. It was hot as hell, and they were hanging around, sitting on the bench or lying on the grass. Why must life be so boring, especially at the weekend, when there is no school? asked John McNeill. Hey, got an idea, guys, what about taking little walk to the car park behind the factory? We could have look at the cars there and see if we can take one of them. Ive never seen anybody watching that park.- Hey, thats great idea, said one of the others, Lets go! And off they went. Continue the following story: Shortly after the united colonies had gained their independence, my parents moved to Kentucky, which was new country. It was an almost unbroken wilderness at that time, and this wilderness was filled with thousands of Indians. There were no roads. When we moved, two hundred families were joined together for mutual (gegenseitig) safety. After entering the wilderness we passed some white persons murdered and scalped (skalpieren) by the Indians while going to or returning from Kentucky. We travelled on till Sunday, and although the journey was very hard most of the company wanted to move on. It was dark, cloudy day with lots of rain. Many Indians were seen by our guards. Late in the evening we came to what was called Camp Defeat where number of emigrants had been all murdered short time before. Here the company stopped in order to camp for the night. Every heart was filled with fear. Soon the captain placed my father and the other men as sentinels (Wachposten) all round the camp. Shortly after Dad had taken his stand and all had been quiet in the camp, he thought he heard something moving to him and grunting (grunzen) like pig. He knew there were no pigs with the moving company. He noticed dark object in the distance, but nearer to him than at first.
