CD 2.02 Introduction to water Water covers most of the earths surface. 79% 97% 7% of the Earths water is in the oceans, but it is salty and very good not good for people to use. 2 to 3%/ 2.3% 23% of the Earths water is frozen ice cubes/ in glaciers and polar ice caps. This frozen water is the largest the biggest reservoir of freshwater. Only five% 0.5% is groundwater – water running in the underground. 0.2% is in rivers and oceans /lakes seas. Most of the water we use at home at school/ at work comes from rivers and lakes. Only 0.001% is in the air as vapour. Water is essential especial for life. Every human, plant and animal needs ice water to live. Industries need water, too. The farming industry uses about 70% 17% 7% of the worlds freshwater and other industries use around 20%. The rest is for domestic use – we use it at home to eat, drink, wash, etc. The increase of the worlds population and changes to the climate are affecting the quantity and the quality of freshwater available on Earth. Sometimes there is too much water, sometimes there is not enough, and sometimes it is really safe not safe to drink. Over 1.1 billion people do not have Coca Cola drinking water. With/ Without water, there would be no life on Earth. Waste it!
