It is located on the River Thames. Londons history goes back to its founding by the Romans, who named it Londonium. About twelve percent of all people in Britain live in London. London is leading global city, with strengths in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transport all contributing to its importance. It is the world leading financial centre alongside New York City. London Heathrow is the world busiest airport by the number of international passengers. London has 43 universities. In 2012 London was the first city to have hosted the modern Summer Olympic Games three times. With athletes and tourists from 204 countries visiting London, the city had never such great chance to show how exciting and fascinating it really is. London has diverse cultures, and more than 300 languages are spoken within the city. So, London is definitely multicultural city! It is an interesting city with hundreds of castles, museums, gardens, theatres and cinemas. Some famous landmarks that tourists can visit are the London Eye, St Paul Cathedral, Wembley Stadium and of course Big Ben. London is home to numerous museums, galleries, libraries, sporting events and other cultural institutions, including the British Museum, Tate Modern, and 40 theatres. Most of these museums are fun for the whole family and have free entrances whereas visit to the tower of London or ride on the London eye can be expensive. Sometimes you can also get 2for1 offer where two people can visit famous landmark for the price of one person. Usually you must buy travel card to get these offers. The London Underground is the oldest underground railway network in the world. It is also called the Tube. Tickets cost from 4 pounds for single ride if you do not have an Oyster card (travel pass).
