READING 1 Read the text. Hi! From India Hi! from India. Well, after all the preparation and planning, weve finally made it to India. And it has been real culture shock! Chris and are currently sitting in little Internet café in Agra. Were about five minutes from the Taj Mahal and were both really looking forward to visiting it later today. Ive read so much about it and seen so many photos. think its going to be amazing. Its very hot so its relief to be inside somewhere nice and cool. We arrived in Delhi from the UK on Sunday and we spent the next couple of days visiting few sights. We went to beautiful mosque and we walked around some very old ruins. It was very hot and crowded, and the roads were so busy with cars, lorries and buses everywhere! Ive never seen so much traffic in my life. But the people are so friendly and the food is amazing. Weve eaten in quite few of the street restaurants. The food is fantastic – and its so cheap! We had some vegetarian food in café near our hotel yesterday. The food was great and the people were so nice. think if you only eat in western restaurants and stay in western hotels, you wont experience the real India. Weve seen lots of rickshaws, the little bicycle taxis – but we havent ridden in one yet. dont know how the poor rickshaw drivers have the energy to cycle across the city all day. We usually take taxi or try and get on bus, but that isnt so easy. Theyre so crowded, its hard to squeeze yourself in. Im enjoying every minute of being here. think India is the most interesting country Ive ever been to. Ive only been here for five days but it feels like longer. Were taking the train tomorrow, so wont be able to update my blog for day or two. Take care!
