Welcome to our presentation about Belgium! Info Belgium is country in Europe and has 11.4 Million inhabitants. Belgium is also member of the European Economic Community. The seat of the Commission is in Brussels. Languages There are three languages in Belgium. Theres Flemish in the north, French in the south, and German in the east. Thats the map of Belgium. The red part is Flemish, the yellow part is French and the blue part is German. Cities We are going to talk about two cities in Belgium. Brussel is the capital and Antwerp is the biggest city. Brussels The grand place is beautiful place in the middle of Brussel. All years the whole place is decorated with flowers. The famous statue of Belgium, is the sculpture of child that pis. Antwerp The port of Antwerp is the largest port in Belgium. It is the second largest port in Europe. Antwerp has been the world‘s centre of the diamond trade for more than 500 Years. Landscape Belgium has land area of 31000 km2 (square kilometres) which is about quarter smaller than Switzerland. The highest mountain of Belgium is 700 meters high, its name is Botrange. This is relatively small because the highest mountain of Switzerland is over 4000 metres high. The longest river in Belgium is the Maas, it is 900 km long. Food The specialty of Belgium is waffles. In Brussels, the waffles are soft. In Liege, you eat the waffles with sugar. The most famous Belgium food are fries. You can eat fries with onion or goulash for example. Fun Fact-Beer There are over 800 kinds of beers. Belgians consume on average 150 litres of beer per person per year. In Switzerland the people drink only 60 litres of beer per person per year.
