Past simple – The Beatles Task 1: Read the text and mark all the verb forms in the past simple. The four Beatles were born in Liverpool. George Harrison was the lead guitarist. John Lennon was the rhythm guitarist. Paul McCartney played the bass guitar and Ringo Starr was the drummer. They started to play together at Liverpool club, The Cavern. Their first record, Love me do, appeared in 1962. They stayed together for the next eight years. Where the Beatles arrived, there was big change in the music industry. The group travelled all over the world. Their fans followed them in the street and waited for them at airports. People listened to their music in nearly every country in the world. Everyone loved them! Then in 1970 everything changed. They werent happy together. Their musical interests were different and they wanted different things. It was the end of the Beatles. But they were perhaps the greatest band in the history of popular music. lot of people continue to buy their records today!
