Paper, pen, dice 2) Vocabulary Charades (Competing Pairs) • • • • Pick vocabulary word at random. Roll the die to decide how to present the word: Odd number (1, 3, 5) explain the word (no gestures). Even number (2, 4, 6) act the word (no speaking). Your group earns point every time the word is guessed correctly. Rotate roles and keep score. Too easy? Too difficult? Material: The other group can also guess and earn points! If you dont know word, you can pick new one. Die 3) Who Am I? Guess the word (Groups of four) • • • • • Choose vocabulary word for your partner. Write it on sticky note and place it on their forehead (or have them hold it up towards you). They ask yes/no questions to guess the word. If yes ask another question. If no next persons turn. First to guess their word wins. Too easy? Too difficult? Connect words that are related in meaning, theme, or structure. One point per word added to the structure. Too easy? Too difficult? Material: Use one of the vocabulary words as starting point and build the map from there Look at the other mind maps for inspiration A3 Paper, pen 5) Spelling Showdown (Competing Pairs) • • • • Two students choose vocabulary words and say them aloud. The others write the words down. 1 point for each correctly spelled word. Rotate roles so everyone spells and selects words. Too easy? Too difficult? Material: Pick trickier words Pick easier words. The writers could also work together. Paper, pen 6) Vocabulary Pictionary (Competing Pairs) • • • • One player picks vocabulary word secretly. Turn the hour glass. Draw the word in 1 minute — no letters or numbers! The others guess what it is. The first correct guess gets point and becomes the next artist. Too easy? Too difficult? Material: Hourglass, paper, pen 7) Quiz Your Partner (Pairs) • • Take turns choosing words from the vocabulary list and quizzing your partner. Give them the German word and ask for the English translation. After 5 words, swap roles. Each correct answer earns 1 point. Too easy? Too difficult? Material: You can also ask for the definition, an example sentence, synonym/antonym Reveal the first letter or the number of syllables Vocabulary list
