He arrives in Australia full of excitement. He can surf very well because he learns it at the beach in Germany. However, the Australian culture feels strange and new to him. At first, everything is different. The food, the weather, and the way people talk confuses Tom. His classmates use words like Gday and Mate, and he doesnt understand them. They speak quickly, and Tom struggles to keep up. The students also find it hard to understand Toms accent. Sometimes, they laugh, but Tom feels embarrassed. One day, they go to the beach for surfing lesson. Tom is happy to surf, but the others fall off their boards and laugh at each other. Tom tries to help, but they dont always listen. After the lesson, they sit down to eat sausages on the barbecue. Tom isnt used to this kind of food and doesnt know how to eat properly. The others laugh, but Tom smiles, trying to fit in. Over time, Tom begins to understand the Australian way of life. He learns that Australians love their outdoor activities and their relaxed attitude. Slowly, he starts to make friends and enjoy their jokes. One afternoon, his classmates invite him to play footy. At first, he doesnt know the rules, but they explain them to him. Tom feels nervous but decides to try. By the end of the game, he feels proud and happy. Tom learns that the culture isnt so difficult after all. He makes new friends and feels part of the group.
