The next morning, Chief Inspector Lowestoft and Inspector Jeffreys visit the English church and the library. At the same time, fingerprints are found in Langley-Smythe flat. The family guests arrive, and Giovanna mistakes the slamming of the door for ‘bang. The police switched on the lights. Cesarini partners in crime flee. One of them is caught instantly. Bacci is on night shift. Cipolla calls and tells Bacci that an Englishman has been murdered in Via Maggio. Cesarini is being questioned. Martha is shot next to the lift.
