Christmas in England Hello David, My name is Tim and am 15 years old. You asked me how we celebrate Christmas in England. will explain you the traditional way. few weeks before Christmas we start to send Christmas cards to all our friends and family. This is very important in England. We put up Christmas decorations in our home watch nativity plays and go to carol services. You can also see groups of children on the streets singing Christmas carols. We do celebrate Christmas on the 25th December. On Christmas Eve night (24th December), children leave out glass of brandy and mince pie for Santa, and carrot and bowl of water for the reindeer. Santa comes at night through the chimney and leaves our presents under the Christmas tree. In the early morning at Christmas day (25th December) we wake up and open our presents. Afterwards people go off to church for the morning service. We have Christmas dinner between 2 and 4 in the afternoon with the family. In traditional English Christmas dinner turkey, potatoes, parsnips and Christmas plum pudding cant miss. At 3pm it is time to watch the Queen speech to the Nation and Commonwealth. The 26th is called Boxing Day. It wasnt public holiday before. The expression comes from the word box. On the 26th employers gave gifts to their employees.
