Present continuous Use: One use of the present continuous is to talk about things which are happening at the time of speaking. Hes writing letter. Another use is to talk about current period of time. Im living in hostel at the moment. Building: We build the present continuous with the verb to be in the present simple plus the ing-form of the main verb. He is reading book. She isnt writing letter. Is he reading book? Yes, he is. No, he isnt. Present simple and continuous in contrast Rules: 1. We use the present simple for daily routines and fixed times. 2. We use the present continuous for activities which are happening at the time of speaking or for limited period of time. Examples: We usually work from nine to five, but today were working till six. live in Wettingen, but at the moment Im staying in London.
