Activity questionnaire Aim to find out how (much) water people used Interaction in pairs, within the whole class Language focus Skills focus past simple, questions, short answers Preparation photocopy the worksheet for every student in the class, (let them do procedure 2 at home to save time) When to use in context with the topic water, after having introduced questions and short answer in the past simple Time 25 ‘ in class survey at home Procedure Nadia Eschmann PHBern Sek 1 speaking, listening and writing 1 Before using this exercise in class, distribute copy to every student and read through the activities. Make sure that they understand the survey. 2 Tell them that they have to go through the activities at the end of the day and mark all the activities they did during that day. Then they calculate the amount of water they used. 3 Introduce possible questions and chunks for the first activity. Did you have bath? – Yes did, no didnt. How often did you? – Once, twice, three times day How much water did you use? Make an example with one student. They write in the grid. As teacher walk around and make notes of language problems that arise. 5 After certain time, students go back to their seat and write two sentences about the students they interviewed in their notebook (one is true, one is false) e.g Sara flushed the toilet ten times. Sara didnt have bath. Mark used 15 litres for washing his hands. 6 Let some students read true and false sentences. Then let the class guess. Tell them to do the same with their neighbour. Again, listen into the class. What kind of language problems do arise?
